Festive Party Advice For Beginners

More parties are hosted over the Christmas and New Years periods than at any other time of the year. Lots of people view Christmas as a time to treat themselves and have a bit of a blow out before the new year. However, arranging a festive party is not the easiest thing in the world to do, and it can can easily become too much for some people. If you get the basics right though, the rest will follow and a good time will be had by all. Here are the 3 most important elements.

Great music
. A party without music is like a hotel without beds…it just doesn’t work. What type of tunes you decide to blast out will likely be influenced by the type of people you invite. Why not set up your laptop or MP3 player to play songs via your sound system, so that anyone can come along and add their favorite tunes to the play list. This helps to keep all party folk happy and can raise some interesting discussions on people’s choices.

Good food and drink. Whilst its great to see friends and have a dance, if most people are honest with themselves, they are there for the food and drink. Finger food is the best option to go for as people don’t have to wonder around with plates and cutlery, and swap the crystal glass for paper cups as accidents will inevitably happen, especially when alcohol is involved. If you’re on a tight budget, why not suggest that people bring a bottle along with them. After all, you are going to the trouble of hosting the party and as long as you provide the champagne glasses most will be happy to provide the bubbly.

Good decorations
. Getting the venue of the party to look like it’s having a good time is also very important. If you house looks exactly the same as normal, people will not feel like it is much of an event. You don’t have to raid the bank for party decorations and no one is expecting extravagance, just some nice streamers and maybe some fairy lights.Balloons are a great choice of decoration as you can play lots of games with them also.
